Transmission Components Plant Functions

BorgWarner established the Transmission Components Facility in 1982 with an agreement with the local government to maintain a park like setting and nearly 40 years later BorgWarner continues to do just that.  It is very common to observe deer, Canadian geese, fox, racoons, and we have even had coyotes and a black bear visit our campus.   BorgWarner is passionate about the environment which is obvious by the on-campus wildlife, portfolio of the products we manufacture and the investments every year into sustainability projects.  The TC plant is a vertically integrated manufacturing plant that converts raw materials from the steel mills into the final product.  The manufacturing process utilizes 500,00 sq ft of floor space and every day produces nearly 73 miles of automotive chain.   Timing chain, transmission chain and transfer case chain has been the foundation of our business and will continue well into the future.

Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Experience in TC

BorgWarner empowers their coops to own projects from inception thru final validation.  The ability to prioritize projects and tasks will be a key skill.  Coops will not only be responsible for their own projects but also be an individual contributor in many initiatives within a team atmosphere.  Some of the invaluable experiences will include:

• Root cause analysis for quality issues
• Using lean manufacturing concepts and principles to improve processes
• Equipment troubleshooting
• Design and implement new designs for manufacturing equipment utilizing Solid Works and CAD
• Support new equipment installations
• Working with all levels of the organization (Maintenance, Safety, Quality, Purchasing, Production)

At the conclusion of this Manufacturing Engineering Coop Experience students will have gained the technical, communication and teamwork skills to be successful in whatever exciting field their career takes them.

Compensation

Co-op compensation is determined by class level (ie: freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, graduate, etc).

Pay range: $16.82 – $24.26
