BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven Engineering Manager for Basic Software (BSW) development as part of the software engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru

Position Summary:
Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing & building strong domain knowledge teams in Basic software (BSW) development with focus on program execution, meeting internal and external customer deliverable. Software developed will be in compliane with the required standard and process by leading the team of skilled engineers for embedded automotive power-electronics and powertrain products. Individual will actively drive the team to achieve the defend content on time with the quality through appropriate estimation techniques and efficient scheduling. Individual will develop the team’s capability through assessment and strategy to meet demanding business need.

Educational Qualifications : B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech in Electronics / Communication / Electrical / Power Electronics / Instrumentation
Experience : 12 to 14 years

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams developing Real-time Embedded software for Power-Electronics and Powertrain Electronics controllers.
  • Responsible for project deliverables and customer satisfaction – Schedule, Risks, Quality and Customer commitments.
  • Collaboration with internal & external customers to understand their needs, Identify and resolve project issues by coordinating with multiple sites, competencies & functional groups.
  • Responsible for managing around 10 - 15 engineers – Resource management/recruitment, mentoring/coaching/career development and performance evaluation.
  • Provide technical direction, conduct regular technical project reviews and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Streamline Common Architecture in compliance with standard Architecture (AUTOSAR) across programs, optimum usage of reusable building blocks to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Responsible for Process definition, maintenance and adherence across all projects in the team.
  • Responsible for creating long term capability development strategy for the Team.
  • Identify engineering quality and efficiency improvement opportunities, promote Continuous Improvement through problem solving techniques like Six Sigma/5Whys/Fishbone
  • Work closely with local and global program team counter parts in meeting overall program expectations from TCI team perspective. 
  • Support and drive organizational level initiatives with short and long term goal.

Major Job Qualifications / Skills

  • Storng team leading capabilities with at least 4+ years of experience in leading and managing the team.
  • Strong Technical leadership experience in new product development and product launches
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in executing/leading multiple SW component development
  • Demonstrated Exemplary expertise in Real-time Embedded SW development using C language
  • Strong Hands-on experience in low level driver SW development/CDD for 16 & 32 bit microcontrollers, ASICs.
  • Extensive experience in integrating multiple Microcontroller modules and ASICs driver SW through deep understanding of program use cases/requirements for at least 2 production programs.
  • Strong ability to comprehend microcontroller hardware and associated schematics and design/implement associated embedded software.
  • Excellent understanding of AUTOSAR architecture – MCAL, BSW( OS, COMM, MEM, DIAG stacks), configuration tools from Vector/Mentor/EB Tresos etc.and methodology
  • Good understanding of SPI, I2C, DMA, RS-232 and serial communication protocols – CAN/CANFD, LIN, SENT, ETHERNET
  • Know-how cross compilers, emulatror and debuggers
  • Strong experience using Agile/Scrum/Sprint methodology as well as CMM/SPICE/ISO 26262
  • Knowledge on SW build environment to generate various target based product files – make, link
  • Experience in Requirement management tool – Polarion, configuration & Change management tools such as Plastic SCM,JIRA, Design tools such as MATLAB/EA, unit testing tools such as CANTATA/VectorCAST/RTRT, Serial Comm testing tool such as CANoe/CANalyzer/NeoVI Fire
  • Proficiency with commonly used electrical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, HIL Simulators, etc.
  • Experience in efficient planning and tracking work scope for multiple programs across various regions.
  • Experience in driving best practices in SW development process through root cause analysis. 
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and energetic. Work collaboratively in an organized and structured fashion; takes ownership and is self-accountable to team goals
  • Good interpersonal skills within a cross functional team; proactive approach to communication and handling conflicts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both a technical and non-technical audience
