Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an EMC Design Engineer.  The EMC Design Engineer will be primarily responsible for EMC design and test/verification for implementation of power electronics products. This role will create power product EMC test procedure and perform validation testing, participate in design reviews in resolving product non-conformances, develop EMC test bench, equipment calibration and training.  The EMC Design Engineer will interface with customer EMC group to review customer EMC requirements and compliance standards to ensure the EMC test procedure to be compliant with requirements and standards and review EMC validation results with customers for product acceptance

Key responsibilities

• EMC product design and confirmation testing to assure product meets customer EMC requirements
• Follow organization Electrical Design process and documentation related to Electromagnetic Compatibility design and confirmation on product hardware
• Support EMC Test Plan defining all customer required tests and test limits, including the set-up of each test and the design, documentation, build, and check-out necessary input/output test hardware for EMC compliance testing
• Support the EMC requirements analysis, execution, and evaluation of designs from an EMC perspective, testing and control of major engineering projects
• Supports EMC technology development when necessary
• Performs EMC design analysis including simulation analysis and circuit board analysis, etc.
• Communicates, coordinates, and consults with various internal engineering departments and external suppliers
• Stays abreast of new EMC technology and test methodology
• Support new business opportunities when needed
• Support team through representation of EMC design to customers and leadership
• Proficient in schematic and layout review of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for emissions and immunity control
• Perform power product CAD review of enclosures, connectors, and cables for EMC compliance
• Troubleshooting all the issuable matters arising from the products to assure product ECM design acceptance

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required (or similar electrical/electronic engineering field)
• 5+ years EMC experience. Less years’ experience may be considered if candidate has a master’s degree related to EMC/Electrical Design
• Experience with PCB CAD tools or analysis tools required
• EMC Simulation analysis experience preferred
• Automotive industry experience preferred
• Engineering Lab experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English
• Experience presenting in front of customers / managing the customer relationship preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills required
