BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Systems Bench Architect within our Systems Functional Test Engineering Organization at our Technical Center in San Luis Potosí, Mexico

The Systems Bench Architect will be part of a team to ensure all system and software test benches have been designed to meet all the functional requirements of the projects. This person participates in the definition of the design, procurement of all components, and installation/deployment of all system and software benches. They will collaborate with systems development and test teams, as well as with the hardware and software teams throughout product development process for electrification products.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Architecting Bench technology used to simulate the overall system/vehicle
  • Design, develop, source, & build/deploy of all CAN, Instrumentation tools, & serial data protocols
  • Defining & procuring bench harnesses and bench infrastructure as the HW & SW changes
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of WIKI pages for all benches, so all project team members have the needed information at a common location
  • Remote access infrastructure for all benches
  • Interface and support System Design, System Integration Engineers, and Test Automation Engineers
  • Participate in all bench-level issues / troubleshooting expert for all projects (noise, license issues, etc.)
  • Patriciate in technical discussion with suppliers of simulation HW and SW for all benches, specifically SW and Motor Sim Benches (for example, NI/OpalRT, Dspace, Typhoon)
  • Driving common bench solution across sites within BorgWarner

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or other engineering or science related discipline required
    • MS degree in electrical engineering or related preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience as Systems engineer or Systems/SW Test Engineer required, but preference will be given to those with 5+ years of experience
  • Ability to routinely work in a hands-on manner required
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support multi-shift operation if necessary
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
  • Ability to work under limited supervision
  • Must be highly aware and adhere to high voltage safety standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of Excel/XML/XLST standards
  • Test Engineer experience

Experience in the following areas (Helpful Skills List)…

  • DSpace/NI/CAN Tool experience (CANstress, CANoe etc.).
  • Knowledge of Excel/XML/XLST standards.
  • Experience with NI-Veristand, NI-LabVIEW, NI FPGA Programming
  • Vector Tools Experience
  • ETAS Tools Experience
  • Lauterbach Tools Experience
  • Test System Harness Design and Connectors Experience
  • IT setup / computer upgrades experience
  • Basic soldering and circuit board modification experience
  • PCB layout experience (for possible customer interface designs)
  • Ability to debug test systems and the board/interconnect level
