BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as SW Engineering Supervisor to lead creation and expansion of our new Software Engineering department in San Luis Potosi.

The Supervisor and the team will focus on developing software components for our electrical powertrain division and will be on the forefront of engineering the latest technology electrical vehicle propulsion systems.

Job Duties:

  • Manages hiring of new team members for embedded software engineering team in San Luis Potosi.
  • Close collaboration with local universities and recruitment channels with a target to hire the best SW talent available in the market
  • Defines the local department structure and talent mix of SW Engineers and SW Requirements Engineers with a long-term goal of adding SW architects, SW integrators and SW Project leads.
  • Supervises training and provide coaching to team members and supports workload planning and deliverables to the projects. Eventually manages the execution of entire projects.
  • Responsible for proposing local management structure with a long term site goal of 50-100 SW engineers.
  • Resource management/recruitment, mentoring/coaching/career development and performance evaluation.
  • Responsible for project deliverables and customer satisfaction – Schedule, Risks, Quality and project commitments.
  • Provide technical direction, conduct regular technical project reviews and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Leads communication and escalation of priority topics to upper management in coordination with internal stakeholders like: engineering, integration, software quality, etc.
  • Executes solid root-cause analysis with the ability to identify and predict possible deviations related to product architecture- or any other technical change.
  • Proactively evaluates design and engineering decisions, making sure they don’t cause any gap in correlation with the program scope.
  • Fosters strong cross-functional partnerships and can effectively prioritize workload demands to meet project deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software engineering, Computer engineering (or foreign equivalent)
  • 8-10 years of overall experience preferably in automotive embedded software development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading and managing software development programs is preferred. Prior Experience with Platform Software development is a plus.
  • Strong experience with automotive embedded Software development based on AUTOSAR architecture-MCAL, BSW, configuration tools from Vector/Mentor/EB Tresos etc. and methodology.
  • Experience in driving best practices in SW development process through root cause analysis.
  • Experience in Low-level drivers software Development (HWIO/CDD), Validation, Debugging & Troubleshooting would be preferrable.
  • Strong experience in process-oriented SW engineering per ASPICE or ISO26262.
  • Functional safety background would be a big plus (Steering, Brakes, Powertrain….)
  • Experience using industry standard development tools - e.g. tool-chains, IDEs, configuration management etc. such as Polarion, JIRA, BitBucket, etc
  • Experience bringing integrated software/hardware products from the early development phase to production
