Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Digital IC Design Engineer at our Indiana Technical Center in Kokomo, Indiana.

A member of an ASIC development team as a Digital IC Design Engineer. Duties will include functional modelling, RTL design and simulation, formal verification, detailed design reviews, laboratory evaluation of samples, documentation.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for digital design of various mixed-signal ASICs including:
  • Investigation of customer needs and proposing solutions.
  • Digital design using Verilog RTL and/or System-Verilog and/or VHDL.
  • Design verification through functional simulations.
  • RTL to Gate Synthesis.
  • Formal verification including Logic-Equivalence-Checking, Code-Coverage, Assertions, etc.
  • Timing closure using static-timing-analysis and simulations with delay back-annotation.
  • Functional and Automatic Test pattern generation (ATPG).
  • Documentation of the design.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; however, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years electronics engineering experience required.
  • Good understanding of basic digital circuit blocks, such as: 
    • Combinational logic,
    • Multiplexers,
    • Flip‐flops,
    • Counters,
    • Shift registers,
    • State machines etc.
  • Basic understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuits (op-amps, A/D’s, D/A’s, voltage references, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Verilog, System-Verilog and/or VHDL (RTL)
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system.
  • Basic understanding of CMOS device structure and behavior.
  • Basic understanding of analog and mixed-signal simulation.
  • Candidates must have excellent organizational skills, good English oral and written communications skills with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Subject matter expert in Digital Design and Verification with training and mentoring experience preferred
  • Good at coaching people and fostering a team approach
  • The ideal candidate should have an innate curiosity and a passion for problem solving.
  • Familiarity with RTL-to-Gate synthesis.
  • Familiarity with Static-Timing-Analysis.
  • Familiarity with Place & Route tools such as Innovus or IC-Compiler.
  • Familiarity with Physical Verification: (layout vs. schematic, parasitic extraction, back-annotation).
  • Familiarity with Synopsys-specific tools: Primetime, Design-Compiler, Tetra-Max.
  • Familiarity with Cadence-specific tools:  Incisive, Innovus, Virtuoso, Conformal.
  • Familiarity with Visual-Basic. Perl, Python, etc.
