Systems Architecture Engineer

The systems architect is a key role with the systems engineering team, delivering integrated hybrid and electrified vehicle solutions. The systems architect defines the overall architecture of the system and the internal and external interfaces of the sub-systems, based on cascaded system requirements. The role requires a model based development approach to static and dynamic architecture, using an industry standard toolset.

Key responsibilities 

  • Estimates, plans and tracks effort related to systems architecture tasks and deliverables
  • Defines and documents assumptions and constraints
  • Documents the architectural approach for the assigned projects
  • Defines concept and scope
  • Creates the systems architectural design
  • Creates static and dynamic architecture models based on the defined architectural approach
  • Ensures traceability and consistency of architecture artifacts to system and sub-system requirements
  • Supports reviewing and approving system requirements, related to architecture.
  • Drives reviews of architecture work products
  • Works with the system integrator to ensure defined interfaces test coverage
  • Drives process adherence of the BW ASPICE based process for the assigned roles
  • Works collaboratively within a team environment

What we’re looking for 

Basic Experience

  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years working in a systems engineering role, using model based / SysML tools for architecture development eg. Sparx EA, IBM Rhapsody, ANSYS Scade etc
  • Product development experience, delivering production ready engineering solutions to customers.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience using task management tools eg. JIRA, IBM RTC
  • Use of industry standard requirements management tools eg. Polarion, IBM DNG, MKS
  • ASPICE and ISO26262 process awareness and experience working within a role based, process driven culture.
  • Prior automotive experience being part of a full product development lifecycle
  • Technical knowledge of electric motors, inverters and drivetrain components.
