Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an Advanced Power Electronics Design Engineer in the Building Block Architecture team.  The Advanced Power Electronics Design Engineer will work as part of a team developing next generation electrification products and be responsible for the associated circuit design, implementation, and testing.

Key responsibilities

  • Simulation and analysis of Power Electronics Modules and Power Electronics circuit blocks with Mathcad and Spice and/or Saber simulators will be a primary focus for this position
  • Concept, design, and execute power electronics circuit design for electrification solutions (DCDC Converters, On Board Chargers, Traction Inverters, Power Modules)
  • Perform hardware testing & verification
  • Schematic creation and PCB layout support
  • Effectively articulate electrical implications while supporting mechanical packaging and system design
  • Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical and Software teams in concept development
  • Technically support business pursuits in the application of electrical solutions

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of experience required 8+ years of experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar subject required. E.g. Microelectronic systems, Power Electronics. Masters preferred
  • Strong hardware design and analytical skills
  • Experience designing high voltage circuits and power supplies
  • Experience with high voltage testing is preferred
  • Experience with circuit design and layout techniques for EMC is desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal skills required
  • Experience in training and mentoring preferred
  • Ability to travel 20% both domestically and internationally
