Job purpose

The Materials Supervisor will be responsible for managing inventory and purchasing procedures of raw materials and other supplies within a company. Material managers collaborate with other managers to determine supply needs, purchase supplies and materials according to specifications and coordinate and supervise receiving procedures. 

Key responsibilities

• Supervise supply planning, production planning and material handling teams
• Maintain accurate planning forecast and/or issue purchase orders to the supply base
• Manage receipt accuracy for raw and subcontract material
• Maintain supplier delivery performance system
• Reduce expenditures for incoming freight
• Develop lot sizing models to minimize setup and inventory levels
• Compare customer demand to stated capacity levels and coordinate action plans where problem areas are identified
• Retrieve, analyze and evaluate long range production demand
• Ensure that production/capacity plans meet customer requirements and minimum inventory levels
• Effectively communicate production plans to the operations team
• Monitor Raw, WIP and finished goods inventory levels to minimize capital expenditures
• Utilization of SAP capacity planning system
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for

• B.S. Degree with two years as a manager/supervisor in combination with five years planning experience in an equivalent manufacturing environment
• Minimum five years manufacturing experience, with emphasis on production and inventory control systems.  Including 2-3 years of supervision experience.
• Knowledge of ERP systems/process, SAP is preferred.
• Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), and/or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is a plus.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills are required to interact effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts.  Due to exposure to sensitive information, discretion is required
